What is infrared sauna?
Infrared sauna has heating panels that produce far infrared wavelengths of (invisible) light. This light penetrates the body as heat, increasing your core temperature and creating an intense sweat. This allows the air in the cabin to be at a lower, dryer and more tolerable than traditional sauna.

Traditional sauna uses a heater or steam to heat the air around you, which has to be a very high hot to make you sweat and creates a more intense and more humid environment than infrared sauna.
Infrared sauna provides benefits by:

-
Triggering detoxification pathways
-
Increasing circulation, oxygenation and nutrient delivery to tissues
-
Triggering the release of heat shock proteins (HSP) crucial for immune regulation
-
Enabling the release of growth hormone, which fosters muscle growth, tissue repair, and faster recovery from illness, injury and exercise
-
Enhancing ATP (the body's energy currency) production
-
Stimulating the brain to release endorphins (commonly known as happiness hormones) and reduce cortisol (the body's primary stress hormone)
-
Mimicking exercise and enhancing brain and cardiovascular function

Benefits of Infrared Sauna
-
Enhanced Exercise Recovery: Infrared sauna sessions can reduce muscle soreness and stiffness by increasing blood circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to muscles, and promoting natural healing processes.
-
Mood Enhancement: Regular use of infrared saunas has been shown to boost mood by stimulating the production of endorphins, commonly known as happiness hormones, and reducing cortisol levels, the body's primary stress hormone.
-
Improved Cardiovascular Health: The heat from infrared saunas mimics a cardiovascular workout, increasing heart rate and improving circulation, which can contribute to better heart health and can lower blood pressure.

-
Skin Health: Sweating induced by infrared saunas can help cleanse the skin, promoting a clearer complexion and improved skin tone.

-
Detoxification: Infrared saunas promote sweating, which can aid in the elimination of toxins from the body, supporting overall health

-
Longevity and Brain Health: Frequent sauna use has been associated with reduced risk of age-related diseases, including dementia and increased longevity.

-
Immunity: sauna can reduce inflammation and supports detoxification, which play a key role in strengthening your immune system and lowering your risk of illness.

-
Weight loss: an increase in core temperature results in an increased heart rate, increased metabolism and the mobilisation of toxins from fat cells, which can support weight loss when combined with exercise and a health diet.

Combining sauna with other treatments
It's beneficial to combine exercise, physio, osteopath, acupuncture or massage treatments with infrared sauna to enhance detoxification, healing and muscle relaxation.

Massage helps mobilise toxins and relax tissues and having a sauna afterwards helps the body to release toxins through sweat, helping you feel great!
Osteo and acupuncture help with injury healing and sauna complements this by increasing circulation delivering more blood flow and nutrients to the tissues to enhance healing.
Post exercise sauna helps increase the oxygen content of the blood and over time this increases the body's ability to carry oxygen which in turn improves athletic performance.
